MICRO-FIBRILLATED CELLULOSE (MFC) IN TISSUE – CREATION AND APPLICATION

ABSTRACT This paper will address the creation of MFC using purely mechanical means, and the testing of the fiber throughout the creation process. Part 2 of the paper will explore the addition of MFC to a generic bath tissue formulation substituting softwood fiber with bleached hardwood MFC. Two different processing levels of MFC will be evaluated. Three different addition levels of MFC will be evaluated and compared to a normal furnish of softwood and eucalyptus fiber using standard physical paper tests.
